Senior Biomedical Engineer

Mr. Lohmann joined the Vital Engineering team in February 2002 from Wake Forest School of Medicine where he pioneered a new cardiac assist device program. He has over 18 years of clinical VAD/TAH experience, including more than 270 VAD/TAH patients. He also served as a biomedical engineering in cardiothoracic services at Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center. Mr. Lohmann has been involved in numerous clinical trails for cardiac assist devices, and has trained numerous centers in the use of Thoratec VAD & IVAD, Novacor, Heartmate 1 & 2 and Ventracor. Additionally he has authored/ co-authored more than 20 published articles, chapters and abstracts. Mr. Lohmann earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Bridgeport and his Masters of Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University.
